San Mateo County Emergency Eviction Moratorium Frequently Asked Questions
On March 24, 2020, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors unanimously enacted an emergency eviction moratorium to temporarily protect tenants from being displaced from their homes during the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis. The emergency eviction moratorium protects eligible tenants against COVID-19 related nonpayment of rent and no-fault evictions. Life has thrown us an unimaginably difficult curveball, testing our discipline and forbearance in ways we could never have conceived. We sit at home, anxiously trying to assess what the impacts of the pandemic will be on us, our families, and the society at large. In the midst of these challenging times, though, I am pleased to say that there is uplifting news.
