Get to know your San Mateo County neighbors and fellow immigrant rights activists!
Sunday, September 10
12:00 noon – 3:00 PM
Alexander Park, 409 Yorkshire Way, Belmont
Share a potluck picnic lunch hosted by the ACLU-North Peninsula Chapter. We welcome all volunteers and staff from civil and human rights organizations, faith communities, People Power groups, and anyone else working with an immigrant rights organization in San Mateo County.
After lunch, we’ll have a conversation about which activists and organizations are working on which immigrant rights projects. We hope to encourage post-picnic collaboration and a strengthening of our movement.
(Even if you have e-mailed us previously to let us know you can attend, please RSVP online as well, so you can share additional useful information.)
More Picnic Details
Family-friendly details: There is a playground a few yards away from the picnic area, where we will be providing “childwatch” (free, informal childcare by experienced childcare providers). You will have an opportunity to list your children’s ages on the RSVP form.
Location details: Access to the park is along a pathway in the middle of the block off Yorkshire Way. Look for the “ACLU” signs. The picnic will be at the picnic tables on your right.
Transportation/parking details: Alexander Park is 0.6 miles from the Belmont Caltrain station. The park doesn’t have a parking lot, but street parking is available. (Please be considerate of neighbors.) Free parking is also available at Nesbit Elementary School 500 Biddulph Way or for $5.50 at the Belmont Caltrain Station.
Accessibility details: Most tables in the picnic area are wheelchair accessible. While the newly-renovated bathroom can accommodate a wheelchair, and the bathroom door is light, there is no push-button door opener. Please list any reasonable accommodation requests in the space provided on the RSVP form.
The more the merrier details: Please share this invitation with any other immigrant rights activists working with an organization in San Mateo County. This event is specifically for volunteers and staffpeople affiliated with immigrant rights groups.
